Aimee's boyfriend's, Ian's, Sister's wedding photos

So if you don't know who Aimee, Ian, or Ian's sister is then you won't find them photos too interesting. Now if you do know one of the three and this is your first time visit, then welcome to the soap opera.

Aimee et All. FYI: Here's what I did today:

3.0hrs - School
6.0hrs - Work
1.5hrs - Hockey
0.5hrs - Dinner
5.0hrs - Homework
= 16 hrs

Homework: I have an assignment due tomorrow at 4pm (and I have to work tomorrow.. ) in a language that I have only a vague recollection of.

So that's why Matt 'The Jerk Face' Goyer just posted What's his name's sister's wedding photos a disgraceful 24 hours after he arrived back in Waterloo.

David's emails are just to good to let go unblogged. Here he is complaining that this site doesn't load in Netscape:

Any idea why your blogger isn't browser friendly? Come on Mr. CS Guy. I
know, I know "Why doesn't he just read it in Explorer that horsefaced
freak?" you're saying to yourself. Well first of all, I'm not horsefaced so
don't get personal okay? Second of all I just thought you'd want to know. I
try to do you a favour and you insult me... oh wait.... that possibly was me
pretending to be you....

I'll be leaving now
Rrrrright

Is anyone else having problems with Netscape? In the meantime David you can download IE here or Opera here (if you believe Microsoft is the Devil). I won't provide a link to Mozilla because John is the only lamer I know who browses with it.

In addition to this alleged Netscape problem I hear some of you have been having domain name resolution issues. Hopefully now that our system admin has a blog he'll take the call to add a secondary name server more seriously.

I hope they come back telling not too many embarassing stories about me.

Yes, this is the same Rhodes Scholar mentioned at 12:59PM in David's blog.

Yes, that's right, 8 cartoons of Ben and Jerry's icecream (including flavours that were never available here!) which is no longer being sold in Canada because of some distribution issues.

Thanks Nat!

The gauntlet has been thrown in the television battle with this Dear occupants letter.

For those un-familiar with the situation the background to the letter is this: Our house has a 52" television and a group of non-occupants regularly watch Star Trek on it. A previous complaint about the situation from me can be found here.

We held a meeting last night to discuss our plan of action. If you have any suggestions we'd welcome them. But of course we find this whole situation rather absurd.

I interrupt this digital music filled day to point the Wesetgate crowd to David's weblog to read a little blurb about our favorite friend Mark.

And remember I have a a Digital Music category to spare you the details of my _____ life.

This media whore gets around:

"It will definitely be a topic in the next mayoral election campaign," says local music activist Matt Goyer, "it's on the top of my list of issues right now, even above the new levies on recordable media."

There's been some additions (and I moved it into Radio) to the Larry Smith Lingo page (thanks Lorne) and I put some (note: not all) pictures from the weekend online plus a few from one night at the Bomber.

There was an article in the Globe this weekend about how the rising popularity of sushi is devestating marine life in our oceans but for the life of me I can't find it on there site which is a little odd. Anyhow, go to your recycling bin and read the article so that next time you're at the sushi bar you can talk about the demise of the blue finned tuna.

In other news, there's an intruder in my house. I just got home to an empty house and some time in the last few minutes some one has come in, turned on the TV and gone up to Donny's room and closed the door. Last I heard Donny was in Ottawa. Perhaps I should be arming myself with a knife and cellphone instead of blogging this but you know me. (The person seems to be going to the bathroom a lot?)

Update: The plot thickens. I think the intruder is Donny's ex-Gf from Ottawa!?

Rumor has it a group of our girl friends are having a fantasia party (imagine a tupperware party. now replace the tupperware with sex toys) (also why is it called a 'fantasia' party?). Now is this a female-only thing? Do gay males have them too? What about straight males?

It's <strike>the worst day ever</strike> Valentine's day and CmdrTaco of Slashdot just proposed to his girlfriend (kudos to him for merging two anniversaries into one).

Meanwhile I'm trying to figure out how to play hockey between 7-9 tonight without being banished to hell and I haven't yet picked up any presents yet. Argh!

Brad asks 'What dumb things do your parents want you to do?'. Where do I begin!?

Buy the family's used Neon when it was in fact at one time mine

Stop drinking so much when I don't drink much

To never ever indulge in recreational drugs. Yummy E.

To post better photos of them (you'll have to send me one Dani.)

To save for taxes and/or buy the Neon instead of buying digital cameras

We watched Volunteers yesterday. It was weird. Hey! We should put that video we did in Grade 11 online! (Who has a copy still?)

Both Brad and Tracy weighed in our new online registration system. Don't even get me started on how backwards Canada's most innovative university really is. Okay a quick list:

No 802.11b wireless network when Western has one

Can't pay my tution online when I can at UofManitoba

Can't view my transcript online when you can everywhere else

We have iMac labs

You have to use Telnet to use the co-op access system (thankfully I'm not in co-op).

Langeman pointed me to Save Your Site from Spambots which I'll be reading after work.

Time to get back to the long afternoon stretch when I'm at my most productive during a 9-5 day. I think though I'm actually most productive in the 6pm-2am slot but that wouldn't fit with the schedules of my roommates and girlfriend.

Last note, I've received lots of positive emails after posting our CRIA response to Pho. Seems like everyone wants someone to stick it to the man. Especially now that Napster has a deadline and Napster abandons .MP3 for .NAP.

Just watched Queer as Folk with Beth and her friend whose name I can't spell. Before hand we had a big food orgy with many courses. New to QAF? Read what the National Post had to say this weekend in Queer As Folk is turning Woody's bar into a tourist mecca. Oddly enough we haven't been to Woody's yet but it is just next door.

Note: John is 'not one of [my] business friends'. John is the original thing! He's John from JohnandMatt.com, John from the bike trip, and John from 6 six years at Westgate. He just also happens to be my Fairtunes partner in crime. ..I got this random out of the blue phone call today from some guys in New York about the FT. I wonder where it will lead. BTW. John and I are holding out for millions. Don't think you can get your grubby hands on the Tunes for any less! :)

It also appears as though I'm known as 'are you Matt the newsguy?' on campus.

Nic's got a weblog (tag line: The 411 on fatty) and it's in the UW Webring. Kevin emailed me saying he didn't know if his weblog would last. I had a couple mis-starts myself. I think a wise idea is to get yourself onto the Ring thereby forcing you to update because you'll have a readership you won't want to disappoint.

So when are Adam and Langeman going to apply to the ring? ..I think if Langeman spent half as much time blogging as he did playing with templates he'd have hourly entries :).

And John mentioned he once had a Manila Site but I couldn't find it.

Adam emailed to say we should send a gift or something to our super for letting us back in last night (afterall we did wake him up). I agree, he saved not only our ass but $140+GST+PST.

Adam also mentioned he's jealous of the cam and I keep reading that Tracy is bugging Brad to get one. Folks, they're only $60! Go splurge and get naked on the net.

A new vice: Getting addicted to on-line auctions (via The Globe). Now if only I could get people so addicted to my (money making websites) that it'd cause relationships to fail and cities to fall.

Darryl pointed me to a rant he wrote on Spam: Spam, Spam, And (You Guessed It) More Spam. His proposed solution is sending back a bounce message. One of my friends Keith does that but I think the problem is that for the most part spammers are abusing open relays in which case they probably don't take note of the bounces. What we need is a reverse p2p spammer. It'd search out some valid contact info in the spam like a URL, email, or phone and then notify all 10 million of you buddies who procede to spam them the hell back.

This was also my first time on Darryl's personal site. Of course it shouldn't surprise me that he has his own vanity dot.com (instead of www.myownfunkylittlecorneroftheweb.com) because he's just like I am and probably more so than I realized.

He does the cottage thing, wakeboards, is a dot.com fanatic, big pho follower, but what most surprised me the most is that he wants a 29er. Well Darryl if you ever do find your 29er and need skipper (you're probably a skipper though) give me a call. I've been drooling over the 49er and 29er ever since they've been introduced. I'd also settle for an International 14.

Some UWers are stepping into the blogging fray.

Check out Kevin (Natalie's roommate from the Winter now in Switzerland on a work term with OpenText and Adam who was in North A with Nat and Kevin in their first year.

Nic who also hails from North A has a page he sent me which clued me in to the other weblogs. I do find it funny that Kevin has a weblog since he and Robin ALWAYS mocked my weblog. As if Matt would ever have anything INTERESTING to say.

Now it's Friday and you're probably bored at work so at least learn something. I.e. The Art of Turboing (because you hate having to deal with customer service reps at places like Rogers), How Water Guns Work (because you'll be packing at Pride) and Google Zeitgeist (because you're interested in 'Search patterns, trends, and surprises according to Google'). And the webcam is back ON! (because I'm done ripping John's CDs).

And I did buy the Canon S-110. I can't wait till it gets here! (probably a week or two since it got shipped via ground).

Quick blog! Rafi was just over for a quick drink (well a whole bottle actually) before heading out to 'The Barn'. Ah! I should of got a webcam photo of all the action (he brought two friends and we have 3 friends over). See, I need a digital cam. This week I'll do the research and we'll pick one up shortly.. It will cost like $500 though. Ugh.

Back to partying! Aimee, wish you were here! But last night and this morning and afternoon we've been sick. Maeve brought the sickness to our house and it's spread to us all. My throat is sore and my world spinning but we're partying hard none-the-less. So we're grumpy and sick between the partying.

Aimee if you can come the weekend of the 13th, you can come to Melissa Ferrick with us, which will be GOOD.

Speaking of intendend audience. Natalie thinks I should refer to her as 'Natalie' and not 'my girlfriend' because I'm writing for friends and family right? :) Sure Natalie, whatever you want. I of course thought she'd be upset if I 'danced around' the fact that Natalie = Girlfriend.

I write for the hell of it. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Hey Jonathan. I created a weblog for you. It's at: jon.mattgoyer.com. OBVIOUSLY, you'll want something hipper and cooler than that as your domain name. So use whois and find a name that isn't taken then give me a call (416-515-9967). You'll also want to come up with a hip and cool design so your site isn't all ugly like mine or the default one.

BTW. Jonathan's site is running Greymatter as is Langeman's. At first glance it looks kind of cool. I can't really switch since I already have a lot of old content that'd be a pain to convert. Plus the Userland community is fun and hip (I really mean nerdy).
