This is quite a bit more expensive...almost 6 times as much, but I can understand a site being up, and not having to worry about it failing can be priceless.

@Ross, the server I was using prior to Bluehost was co-lo'd. My compliant was that the co-lo wasn't staffed 24/7 so every now and then the server would go down, often on a weekend, and it would take a day or two to get it rebooted which drove me nuts. I also don't want to be responsible for updating the OS, etc. I should go managed hosting but that is pricey hence my quest for middle ground.

@Natalie, ah! I guess we'll see. You're doing the $20/month grid server plan using the shared MySQL database?

This is funny because I've found Media Temple flakey and was going to ask your advice about moving off it. All we're doing currently is hosting a wordpress blog but if often feels slow or misses requests, especially the wp panel. Anyway let me know what you think of the speed and flakiness after a month :)

FWIW, I use tera-byte.com; out of Edmonton Canada to host my server. It's about the cheapest I've seen for full fledge colocation; though their bandwidth charges are a little higher than elsewhere. They've been stable and quick for the last ~5 years. You're on your own to configure the services you need, but at least no one else can bring them down.
