One company too many?

NY Times, Young Internet Producers, Bankrolled, Are Seeking Act II:

Jay Adelson, 36, and Kevin Rose, 29, are parallel entrepreneurs — starting a second company just as the first one is taking off.

If I were an investor/boardmember/employee of either company I’d be worried because I’d want my CEO 100% focused on one company. The chance of startup success is low enough without having to distract the CEO with side projects. I also imagine they wouldn’t tolerate their employees splitting their time between two or more companies so why the double standard with the CEO?

(Note: I have the same complaint about Bezos and his space flings and had a compliant about Gates mixing both Microsoft and the Gates Foundation).

Steve ran both Apple and Pixar quite well, it seems.
